Every owner-operator can tell you what a load pays. Almost none can tell you what it cost — truck payment, insurance, plates, fuel, tires, the maintenance you haven't paid for yet but will, the empty miles to get to the pickup, and the money you're supposed to be paying yourself.

Questions

Do I need Excel?
No. It works in free Google Sheets, and in Numbers on a Mac.
I'm not good with spreadsheets.
Every cell you type in is shaded and blue. Everything else calculates itself, and a filled-in example shows exactly what goes where.
How long does setup take?
About 30 minutes for the first tab. After that it's a minute per load.
Does it file my IFTA for me?
No. It does the part that takes all the time: your miles and gallons split by state, fleet MPG by IFTA's own method, and taxable gallons per jurisdiction. You enter the current quarter's tax rate for each state — they change every quarter, and the only place to get them is the official IFTA matrix at iftach.org. Then it works out what's due and you file it.
Why don't the tax rates come filled in?
Because a rate that's one quarter out of date is a wrong return with your name on it. IFTA publishes each quarter weeks before it's final — Q3 2026 isn't final until September 4th — and we won't ship you a number we typed from memory. The worksheet tells you exactly which figure to fetch and where.
Is this tax advice?
No. It's a tracking system. Your accountant will like you a lot more for showing up with it.
